History
Transparency International, the global civil society organisation leading the fight against corruption, has more than 90 national chapters worldwide. The history of its Slovak branch started with the Centre for Economic Development (CPHR), a Slovak NGO based in Bratislava, which was established in 1993. In 1997, it started to look more intensively at the problem of corruption in the Slovak economy. This was part of the project called Transparency in the Slovak economy I.
In September 1998, CPHR became a branch of an international network of NGOs and
Transparency International Slovakia (TIS) was launched as part of CPHR. In October 2002, TIS got legally intedendent through the foundation of an official civic movement and its registration at the Slovak Ministry of Interior. Mrs Sičáková-Beblavá has been its president from its foundation until 2009. Gabriel Šípoš leads the mission since September 2009.

. TI’s mission is to create change towards a world free of corruption. TIS works together with other national branches and exchanges its experience associated with finding system solutions on how to curb corruption and increase transparency.
